UT Tyler’s medical school offers all students in first class free tuition

Each student in the first class of the UT Tyler Medical School will receive a four-year scholarship, covering the full cost of tuition, according to an email from University President Kirk Calhoun.

“This is a significant gift that will mean so much to the students, and it speaks to the support the East Texas community is willing to provide to our students,” Calhoun wrote.

The money is a gift from the R.W. Fair Foundation. According to a news release, UT Tyler expects about 40 students in the inaugural class, and each year of tuition costs $25,000.
