According to the City of Tyler, about 25 children were rushed to safety by the Parks Department on Tuesday morning when a tornado was sighted heading toward the Lindsey Park soccer fields. The children, whose ages ranged between nine and 16, were attending soccer camp when the severe weather hit.

Dorean Park, the Lindsey Park crew leader, said that when his team spotted the tornado they began getting the children and coaches to safety in the park restrooms where they stayed for about 15 minutes. The remainder of the camp day was canceled.
